The 2019 Silver Tea

The 2019 Silver Tea

Our Story

We all have taken time for tea in the afternoon. Tea is a popular and relaxing break in the day that is cherished by the people around the world.

On the twenty-third of May Two Thousand and Nineteen, the Harris County Hospital District Foundation (HCHD Foundation) hosted an elegant afternoon tea from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the beautiful home of Lisie and Jay R. Houren. Mr. Houren is a long time HCHD Foundation Board Member and loyal supporter.

The elegance of the Houren’ s home from the table setting and perfect décor, to the pretty pastries and tasteful hors d’oeuvres,  to the warm greeting from the Houren’ s made this event most memorable. Outside, a plethora of flora in nature’s most simple form, the chirping of birds, and the sights and sounds of a garden were calming to the heart and made for a lovely atmosphere to relish the afternoon and a perfect venue for the 2019 Silver Tea

The Silver Tea, as it is known, raises funds for Harris Health System Nursing Leadership Program to provide stipends for books, fees, and time-off pay to full-time nursing service employees who are pursuing advance nursing degrees.

The Foundation has been pleased to sponsor the Silver Tea since 2001 to help those nurses and Harris Health System to always reach its goal, to achieve magnet status, and to achieve its mission in part of ‘training the next generation of healthcare workers’.

The HCHD Foundation Board of Trustees sincerely appreciates the support of Lisie and Jay R. Houren. We especially thank them for their support of the Foundation and hosting this successful event. We would also like to our donors, leadership of Harris Health System, and especially all the nurses of Harris Health System for their continuous high quality service and pursuit of excellence through the pursuit of advanced nursing degrees.
