HARRIS COUNTY HOSPITAL DISTRICT FOUNDATION
NURSING LEADERSHIP FUND

The Harris County Hospital District Foundation (HCHD Foundation) has always believed that investing in the nurses who serve Harris Health patients pays considerable dividends. A primary focus for Harris Health’s Nursing Leadership is to continue to create opportunities for advanced education to those nurses who serve Harris Health patients.

The HCHD Foundation assists in this endeavor through its annual Silver Tea special event. Funds raised each year help to provide stipends for books, fees, and time-off pay to full-time nursing service employees who are in the process of pursuing advance nursing degrees.

Harris Health System nurses are dedicated to providing the best patient care and outcomes. With the support of the Harris County Hospital District Foundation and the system administration, we have seen continued growth in the educational platform of our nurses; and improvements in our patient outcomes related to nursing care.
From 2015-2017, 213 nursing staff members participated in our tuition reimbursement program; 40 of these also received support through the Books and Fees payment program.
