Dedicated Funds for Children's Health Issues in Harris County

The 2023 grant application period has ended as of Friday, March 31, 2023.

The Harris County Hospital District Foundation manages a permanent endowment devoted to children’s health issues in Harris County. The endowment is a tri-party agreement between Harris County, the Harris Health System, and the Harris County Hospital District Foundation.

The proceeds of this endowment support integrated health projects for children who are not eligible for other similar services and who are at the highest risk in Harris County and Harris Health System.

Please note: Proposals can be for one or two-year projects (1 year per grant cycle).  After year two of receiving funds, the applicant may not submit a proposal for a third year.  The applicant is required to skip a year, and may apply the following year proposing a new project/program.

Should you have questions, please contact Carolyn Amos at carolyn.amos@harrishealth.org.

TESTIMONIALS

I wanted to share a recent video sent to me by our wellness Champion teacher Carlos Quinteros at Sharpstown High School.  Your investment in the school continues as Carlos took up the mantle to execute much of the HealthCorps programming.

Thank you for giving the students at Sharpstown critical two years of the programming so we could ensure sustainability there.  Your funding made the difference!

Ever since Caleb’s first trip to Discover Fitness Foundation (which he lovingly refers to as “Gym-nas-kicks”) he has always looked forward to his Friday outings at the gym.  It not only provides him with a physically engaging outlet, but also a safe environment where he is free to express himself fully.  Opportunities for him to participate in similar activities outside of these scheduled visits are rare; and when they come up, it is often difficult to ensure that Caleb is able to enjoy the experience, mainly due to his challenges related to autism and social cues.  When I pick him up on Fridays, he is always in a great mood, and is quick to mention his trips to Gymnastics, noting foam pits, tumbling, and best of all, having fun and exercising.  Discover Fitness’s dedication to serve the special needs community is truly a gift worth appreciating, and we are so blessed that they opened their doors to many children like Caleb who benefit greatly from their organization.
