Welcoming the New Executive Director

Ruth Ransom is celebrating her one-year anniversary with HCHD Foundation in September, and we are thrilled to have her as part of our team. Prior to arriving at the Foundation, Ruth served in a variety of professional and volunteer roles in Houston for over thirty years. Mammography screening and diagnostic services in the Harris Health System

Members of the Houston Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® board of trustees and grants committee visited the Harris Health System in April. The HCHD Foundation has been receiving grants from Komen for almost 20 years. Eleventh Annual Silver Tea

Marcy and Tom Wessel generously opened their lovely home to host the Harris County Hospital District Foundation’s Eleventh Annual Silver Tea on May 10th. The Silver Tea raises funds in support of the Harris County Hospital District’s nursing staff. Proceeds from the event benefit the Nursing Leadership Fund, which provides assistance for nursing continuing education as well as for nursing research initiatives conducted and coordinated by the Hospital District’s professional nurses. The 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Dr. Mattox presented with flags in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. On September 11, 2011, U.S. Army Captain Robin Riggs, RN, presented Foundation Trustee & Ben Taub General Hospital Chief of Staff Dr. Kenneth L. Mattox with American flags flown over Iraq and Afghanistan during combat operations. The flags were presented to Dr. Mattox to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
