The Impact of Public-Private Partnerships

Since 2002, The Harris County Hospital District Foundation has been managing a permanent endowment devoted to children’s health issues in Harris County. The endowment is a tri-party agreement between: Harris County, the Harris Health System, and the HCHD Foundation.

The proceeds of this endowment support integrated health projects for children who are not eligible for other similar services and who are at the highest risk in our society. Foundation Grants & Programs Manager works with a thirteen-member advisory committee chaired by Foundation Trustee, Mrs. Ginni Mithoff. The committee evaluates proposals received from governmental and non-governmental institutions serving children and parents in Harris County.

Since 2002, the HCHDF Children’s Health Fund has given 80 grants for a total of $3,164,697 in grant awards; 40 of those grants have been given to Harris Health System related programs, 6 grants have been awarded to Harris County public institutions, and 34 grants have been given to nonprofit organizations in Harris County.
