The HCHD Foundation has new friends; Fred and Kay Rahdar owners of Friend’s Pub.Last month was a marvelous time for Kay; she completed her cancer treatment, became US citizen, and celebrated her birthday with a fundraising benefiting the Harris Health System Cancer Resource Center at LBJ Hospital where she received treatment.
The Cancer Resource Centers (CRCs) located at the Smith Clinic and LBJ Hospital provide social and emotional support to cancer patients; they have over 300 patients’ visits every month. The CRCs have cultural competent staff and volunteers that provide one-on-one support to cancer patients receiving treatment in the Harris Health System.
The Rahdar Family is planning to continue with this annual fundraising event on behalf of the CRCs. Ruth can’t wait to have the opportunity to play with the pub’s mascot again; a white cockatoo that had an instant bonding with our Executive Director the day we visited the Rahdar family.
