Our story

Appetite for Change

On Thursday,October 10, also World Mental Health Day, the Harris County Hospital District Foundation (HCHD Foundation) sponsored a table for the 2019 Treasures of Texas Luncheon: Appetite for Change hosted at the River Oaks Country Club by the Mental Health America (MHA) of Greater Houston.  A number of the HCHD Foundation Trustees, along with the HCHD Foundation team were in attendance.  MHA actively works to replace misperceptions and misunderstanding about mental illness with compassion and proper treatment; link people to mental health services; provide education and training for key sectors of the community; remove barriers to mental health care by facilitating change in systems and advocate for legislative solutions that address the vast unmet need for public mental health services.  The HCHD Foundation will continue caring for the Harris County community through partnership.
