HCHD Foundation Celebrates 2nd Capital Campaign Phase 1 Completion

Our story

Ben Taub Hospital E.C. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

When disaster strikes, Ben Taub Hospital’s Level I Ginni and Richard Mithoff Trauma Center (The Center) is Harris County’s lifeline. A city our size should have at least six Level I Trauma Centers. With only one other Level I Trauma Center to serve the 3rd most populous county in the U.S., the Center must have the capability to meet the growing demand for quality trauma care for the 6+ million residents in our area. The Center will be updated to reflect the advancement of technologies and to provide the most efficient use of space to care for the most critically injured trauma patients.

The HCHD Foundation 2nd Capital Campaign for the renovation and modernization of the Center has continued during the past year, despite the challenges we faced with the COVID-19 pandemic.

In October 2020, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of the Phase I renovation and upgrades. During Phase I, rooms were added and existing hospital equipment was replaced with updated technology.
