A Special Thank You To Harris Health Employees

We all know “family” can mean many different things. There is our immediate family, our extended family, our “just like” or “might as well be” family. And then there is our work family: people who we spend so much time with and know so much about. We know when they are happy, sad, mad and in trouble.

The Employee Assistance Fund, managed through the Harris County Hospital District Foundation, is there for them when they’re in trouble. It’s there for them when they have no time off left and can’t return to work yet and get a paycheck. It’s there for them when a loved one dies and there’s no money for the funeral. It’s there for them when they lose everything in a fire and have no insurance.

The Employee Assistance Fund is solely funded by employees through voluntary payroll deduction. As a special thank you, the Foundation distributed insulated cups to all the employees who make voluntary payroll deductions every payday to help their coworkers in their time of need.

it’s really like giving to family. I’m able to contribute throughout the year as opposed to writing a big check. So it’s a painless process that means a lot to somebody else. I can see the impact it makes in the lives of our employees.”[/gdlr_tab]
