Jay R. Houren
Jay Houren joined the Crady Jewett McCulley & Houren LLP in 1986 after working in the tax department of a national accounting firm. Mr. Houren is board certified in Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is also a certified public accountant. His practice areas include tax, estate planning, business mergers, sales and acquisitions and general business representation. He serves as a general counsel to entrepreneurial families and their children, with a focus on tax planning and preservation of family wealth. Mr. Houren is licensed to practice in the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. His litigation experience in the courts is generally limited to tax controversy.
Mr. Houren received his undergraduate degree in accounting from The University of Texas in 1981 and graduated from South Texas College of Law in 1983. Mr. Houren was named Best Private Client Lawyer in North America for 2013 by the Family Office Review a Chicago and London based organization.
Mr. Houren is a frequent speaker on taxation issues, including seminars sponsored by the American Bar Association Tax Section, State Bar of Texas, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, Houston Chapter of Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, other organizations and associations and various Crady Jewett McCulley & Houren L.L.P. sponsored seminars.
