Ben Taub Chapel Receives Funding

It has long been accepted in the medical profession that spiritual care plays an important role in physical wellness. The Interfaith Chapel at Ben Taub Hospital is utilized by family, friends, patients and employees seeking to find the strength and peace that only the spirit of their beliefs can deliver.

The chapel has not been updated since the building was completed in the early 1980’s. Dark, gloomy and outdated, the chapel has experienced heavy usage in the past thirty years.  Religious items not permanently connected are missing.

The modernized interfaith chapel will act as a “quiet meditation and prayer space” that may be visited by a wide diversity of individuals. It is also used as home for family medical discussions of healthcare needs, sometimes including difficult decisions on behalf of loved ones.

Ben Taub Chapel is central to the Harris Health System mission of caring for the whole person and serves as an important spiritual resource. Many staff members visit at the beginning or end of their workday. By marshalling their own spiritual resources, they are providing the very best care for Harris Health System patients.

We are greatly appreciative to Baxter Trust and the Sure Foundation. We can now renovate the Chapel! Photos to come
